Footy fans are in for a real value for money treat this Saturday with a tantalising triple header at TIO stadium that promises to show once again why AFL football is the Territories number one sport.
Admission prices at TIO stadium have remained the same since 2008/09 despite rising costs, AFLNT is delighted to be in a position to offer such high quality football at such a reasonable price ensuring exceptional value for money for patrons attending games.
Saturdays value for money offering sees the resurgent Nightcliff Tigers take on the always dangerous Wanderers Eagles at 3:15pm, a game that is also being broadcast live on ABC followed by the final game of an 8 game trial for the Central Australian Redtails who take on Palmerston Magpies at 5:30pm.
The late game at 7:45pm is between the Buffaloes who are basking in the afterglow of a great win against Districts and Waratahs who will be keen to bounce back after a mauling by perennial powerhouse St Mary’s.
Round 8 is women’s round as AFLNT acknowledges the tremendous contribution that women have made to NT football not only in the decade since organised women’s footy first commenced but since 1916 when football itself commenced in the NT.
AFLNT CEO Tony Frawley recognised the immense impact that women right across the spectrum in the football industry have had particularly over the last 10 years in the NTFL.
"AFL football in the NT would not be as strong as it is today without the immeasurable contribution of the legions of women who love the game and it is fitting that a round of the TIO NTFL is dedicated to the women who have made NT football great, whether they be players, spectators, officials or volunteers."
