The Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) is proud to be a Premier Partner with the AFL Northern Territory, working together to support Indigenous communities.

Through its Indigenous Communities Strategic Investment Program, FaHCSIA aims to foster collaborative approaches with governments, the corporate sector and local communities to develop tailored responses to local community needs.

The establishment of local community AFL leagues will provide an opportunity, for young Indigenous people to become actively involved in football and, through their sporting endeavours, develop leadership skills, represent their communities and promote health and wellbeing.

A regional network of stakeholders and sponsors will be established to support the football teams and, arising from these relationships, it is hoped traineeships and other employment opportunities will be created.
