Bill Dempsey LEGEND (1958-1976)

One of the Territorys greatest exports!
As a young 18 year old ruckman Bill Dempsey left Darwin for a career with West Perth where he played during the 1960s and 70s. An uncompromising ruckman, he played a total of 343 games for the club, captaining them from 1973 to 1976, before retiring at the end of 1976. He won Club Best & Fairest in 1966, the Simpson Medal in 1969 and was a member of premiership teams in 1969, 1971 and 1975. Also a member of three Darwin Football Club premierships in 1958/59, 1959/60 and 1967/68. He represented Western Australia 14 times and in 2005 was named in the official AFL Indigenous Team of the Century. A legend of the game and a worthy inductee into the AFLNT Hall of Fame.
