Ludmilla Primary School students recieved NAB Auskick Backpacks as a reward for attendance in an In School Auskick Program run last term.
Last term Ludmilla Primary School hosted not one, but two in school Auskick programs. The idea was part of a joint initiative by AFLNT and Ludmilla Primary. The concept was used to increase school attendance rates with Auskick backpacks being awarded to those students who were attending school on a regular basis. The first clinics were held on a Wednesday morning prior to the school day. The second was part of the schools homework group on a Thursday afternoon. Over the length of the program we had nearly 40 participants, with the majority attending regularly. As promised, last Friday in front of their family, friends and teachers at school assembly, the children were presented with their prizes for their participation and excellent behaviour at both at the program and in class. All the participants had a great time and it was fantastic to see that the attendance rates were up. The program has proved how important a tool Football can be in helping engage children with their education. Hopefully we can continue this program in the future and also introduce a similar concept at other schools in the region.
