Roper Gulf Auskick Centre

Roper Gulf Auskick Centre

The new Roper Gulf Auskcik Centre has opened up with kids coming from communities 100km away to participate in the clinics.

Australian Rules football is an integral part of Australian life and this is no different for Barunga, Beswick, Jilkminggan and Matranka where the community members and teachers in these surrounding areas are running their own Auskick centre.
Every Tuesday and Saturday Morning kids come from these surrounding communities to play football, and develop new footballing skills. Like everything in the Northern Territory nothing is close and this is no different for the kids and staff that run the Roper Gulf Auskick centre with some of these communities over 100km away. Once the kids arrive Community members and Teachers put these kids through some basic football drills followed by some modified Australian Rules football games.
The ground that these kids play on would make most people give up on playing Australian Rules football, but not these kids they run through the red dirt, dodge the pot holes and avoid and other obstacles that may arise, just so they can enjoy our great National Game.
The Roper Gulf Auskick is just one Auskick centre run through the Northern Territory that provides an opportunity for young children to participate in Australian Rules and develop their skill and may be one day live there dream of running onto the MCG.
