After four years in its current form, AFL9s in Darwin is set to have its biggest and most successful season yet with nine teams registered for the 2018 competition (see team names below).
Games are played each Tuesday under lights on TIO Oval 2 from 6:30pm, and round 1 started this week. Unfortunately due to popularity, registrations for this year have closed but people interested can come down and check it out before registering in next year’s competition.
AFL9s is a social competition that encompasses everyone and one of the Round 1 teams consists of players who will be representing the NT in the 2018 Inclusion Carnival, held in Tasmania in June.
AFLNT Game Development Project Manager, Nicole Hyland, said she was very pleased with how far the competition has progressed.
“Year on year this competition continues to grow and it’s fantastic to see so many locals getting behind this great social occasion for the dry season.
“AFL9s is a platform for people of all ages and football abilities to come together for a bit of fun on the footy field,” she said.
The 2018 AFL9s teams are:
