NT Thunder players Matthew Green and Michael Mummery will travel to Sydney to play against Vic Country at Spotless Stadium this Saturday at 11am.
** Please note the game was moved off Spotless Stadium due to the weather and will now be played at BISP, Blacktown on Saturday at 10.30am.**
Green and Mummery have been selected to represent the Allies in Round 1 of the NAB AFL Under 18 National Championships.
AFLNT Manager of Talent and Pathways, Wally Gallio said their selection was a reward for their good performances in the Allies practice match in Melbourne two weeks ago during the National Academy Series.
“Matty and Michael both had good games in the trials with Matty playing as a utility and Michael as a small forward.
“Izaak Wyatt and Rodney Baird are also part of the program and will get their opportunity in the coming weeks to play in the the five game national series”.
“Playing for the Allies means they get to present themselves to AFL clubs and recruiters and we wish them all the best,” he said.
NT Thunder Academy coach Jimmy Driscoll will once again be an assistant coach for the Allies.

Gallio on Green: “Greeny played across halfback and then we played him as an inside mid and he also played outside on a wing. His poise and ability to use the ball was really impressive and that’s what really attracted the AFL clubs and the other selectors of the Allies to him.”
Gallio on Mummery: “Michael started forward then played inside mid and his last three games of the Series was probably where he stood out. He was really good against Sydney in Alice Springs but on Saturday night against the Brisbane Lions he showed that he can play forward and through the midfield, his defensive work was also very exciting.”
