AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) today released the TIO NTFL junior division fixtures for the 2018/19 TIO NTFL Season with the Under 18s starting Saturday 6 October.
The TIO Under 18 Girls Grand Final rematch between reigning premiers Darwin Buffaloes and Southern Districts Crocs is a highlight of the opening round, while the Under 18 Boys Grand Final rematch will have to wait until Round 5.
The remaining junior divisions will begin the following weekend, taking the number of registered teams across all the different NTFL divisions to 107, which is three more than last season.
AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham said a lot of hard work had been put into the draw and, as in previous years, some divisions only have the first six rounds fixtured.
“Each year we release the first six weeks of the U12, U14 and U16 boys fixture, so we have the opportunity to re-assess the grades and divisions for the benefit of the competition. As we get into the season we have extra teams put their hands up, some others fall away, and the younger divisions undergo regrading. However, the U18 boys and girls and U15 girl’s divisions are set for the whole season.
“Clubs have requested for all teams to be aligned as much as possible which we have also strived for given restrictions around facilities. We have also given more junior games to clubs at home venues this year which includes the Under 12s on a Friday night,” Totham said.
