Remaining senior 2018/19 TIO NTFL fixtures released

Women's Premier League Grand Final will be replayed in Round 6

Today AFLNT released the TIO NTFL Women’s Premier League fixture and the Men’s Division 1 and 2 fixtures for the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season, with the first games in these divisions starting Saturday 6 October.

The TIO NTFL Women’s Premier League competition continues to go from strength to strength each year and this season will be no exception with the grand final rematch between Darwin Buffettes and Waratah scheduled for Round 6.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Division 1 competition will start with a bang, with last year’s grand final rematch between Banks Bulldogs and Waratah scheduled for the first round of the season at Gardens Oval.

In the Men’s Division 2 competition, the reigning premiers Nightcliff Spartans will travel to Brockman Oval in Jabiru to take on their grand final opponents in Round 5.

Interestingly, all the same senior grade teams from last season have nominated again this season.

After taking into account club feedback and consensus on club priorities, the league has aligned club fixtures across the different divisions in back to back timeslots where possible.

AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham said the standard of the senior divisions continued to improve and the league was working hard to try and fulfil the different requests.

“Each year the professionalism at club level lifts but we recognise that they are still run by hardworking and dedicated volunteers so where it is practical to do so we have tried to make it so that each club has their different teams playing one after the other. However, it’s not always practical given we don’t have every club represented across each division and we still have the same number of ovals and facilities to work with.

“Some of the clubs also expressed a desire not to have any of their senior teams play before midday on Saturday so that their players could still attend to their work duties. We have tried to consider this as much as possible but the reality is until we have lights up and running at Gardens and at PSC BM in Nightcliff this is a difficult ask, but we commit to factoring this in once the lights are operational,” he said.
