2019 Territory Footy – The supercut

Amazing! It’s been another massive year for Australian Football in the Northern Territory! Before we welcome 2020, let’s take a look at all of the incredible things that have happened over the past 12 months.

Participation continues to grow, led by the inclusion of new NTFL divisions in Darwin and new competitions in Alice Springs.

The Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre nearly doubled its student intake and introduced new programs.

Growth also continued in the remote footy space, with funding secured for local community members to become full-time trainees, assisting in the engagement and retention of youth and club football in communities.

Two talented women got drafted to the AFLW, while in the men’s, Malcolm Rosas Jnr was the first NT player picked up by the Gold Coast SUNS as part of our new partnership with them.

And with the curtain closing on NT Thunder, a new deal between Melbourne and the SUNS will see games, community and talent a focus for the next four years.

While one star made his return to footy felt, we also honoured the stars of the past with our first Hall of Fame event in five years.

But all this and more wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our sponsors, volunteers and supporters, so in what was a BIG year, thank you!
