NT Thunder Under 16s ready for NSW/ACT in Round 2

U16 academy 2019

The NT Thunder Academy will put its best foot forward in its second game of the 2019 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships in Queensland tomorrow.

The team will take on NSW/ACT at Metricon Stadium and the team will be hoping to build on their Round 1 performance where they put up a good fight against Tasmania despite going down.

Mark White will again line up in the forward line after kicking four goals in Round 1 alongside Liam Coach, Jamie Jones and Tyrrell Lui who all kicked singles in that game.

Antonio James, Taj Butenhuis and Brodie Lake were named best in Round 1 and will again line up across the backline for Thunder.

NT Thunder Under 16s Head Coach Matt Campbell said the group had would be looking to improve on the groundwork they had established in the opening round.

“Our Round 1 game gave us a chance to play together for the first time so the players got to know each other’s style of play.

“Our focus will again be to stick to our game plan and be competitive for four quarters.

“NSW/ACT had an 11-point win over Queensland in Round 1 so we won’t take them lightly however we will be looking to put our best foot forward and take them on,” he said.
