AFLNT inducts 13 worthy Life Members

Life members

AFL Northern Territory has awarded 13 Life Memberships in a special luncheon held at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre on the 2019/20 TIO NTFL Men’s Grand Final day.

In partnership with Statewide Super, the inductees were presented with their life memberships by Grand Final MC Richard Champion and Grand Final Ambassador and AFL Team of the Century member, Gilbert McAdam.

Inducted under the Honorary Life Membership category for their service to football were Damian Hale and Herman Rooding.

Territory football legend, Rooding was involved in NT football for almost 40 years at club and state level, including umpires, masters and state board levels.

His involvement between 1965 to 2003 demonstrates his immense commitment to Territory footy at all levels.

Hale was similarly rewarded for his long-standing involvement with NT football, as both a player, club premiership coach and state representative coach – equivalent to 287 games in total.

Former AFLNT Umpires Manager and current umpire Mark Noonan took a break from his pre-game Grand Final routine to receive his Umpire Life Membership.

Noonan, who is one of the most respected umpires in the NT, has now officiated in 272 NTFL Men's Premier League games in the position of field umpire and became the record holder earlier this season.

Current and past players Delsey Ah Wang, Jaylene Boundry, Emma Collinson, William Farrer, Lateesha Jeffrey, Natasha Medbury, Jonathan Peris, Lisa Roberts, Kerry-Anne White and Austin Wonaeamirri were endorsed for Player Life Membership.

AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham took the opportunity to acknowledge the significant role of the Life Members.

"Congratulations to you all, your contribution to our great game is worthy of this honour and we thank you for your years of service and dedication that has seen Territory footy become what it is today.
