Melville awarded 2019/20 Chaney Medal

Trent Melville

Nightcliff Football Club's Trent Melville left TIO Stadium on Saturday night with two medals around his neck. Melville was awarded the 2019/20 Chaney Medal (NTFL men's best on ground in a grand final) presented by TIO, which accompanied his Premiership medal after helping Nightcliff to a 13 point win, 10.13.73 to 9.6.60, over St Mary's.

Melville kicked a bag of five goals, was the clear forward target for his team and his overall performance was not overlooked by the Chaney Medal panel.

The Chaney Medal panel made up of Gilbert McAdam, Brenton Toy and Rob Cross collectively awarded Melville 15 votes, all awarding the forward maximum votes (5), which saw him seven points clear of teammate Shaun Wilson.

Each panellist voted 5-4-3-2-1 for nine separate players they believed had the greatest positive impact on the game.

The final results of the 2019/20 Chaney Medal, presented by TIO were:
Trent Melville - Nightcliff - 15 votes
Shaun Wilson - Nightcliff - 8 votes
Michael Hagan - Nightcliff - 6 votes
Ryan Smith - St Mary's - 6 votes
Shaun Edwards - St Mary's - 3 votes
