It’s that time of year again… tell the kids to lace up their boots and get a drink bottle ready, the 2021 NAB AFL Auskick season has commenced nationwide.
Northern Territory kids are preparing for the highly-anticipated return of their beloved NAB AFL Auskick programs and a select few from around the nation have come together to form the NAB AFL Auskick Committee, asking AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan some hard hitting questions in preparation of the season ahead.
There were smiles all around when the AFL CEO revealed his top-secret plans and tips for the 2021 season from NAB AFL Auskick HQ.
AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan said whilst there were some tricky questions, it was great to chat with the youngest stars of our game.
“The NAB AFL Auskick program has been the first step that many kids across the country have taken into AFL and AFLW programs. It was great to be able to connect with the future stars of the game and hear an unfiltered view on the season ahead.” Mr McLachlan said.
“Our NAB Auskick programs are the best way for boys and girls to experience footy for the first time, especially as our Auskick centres have become their own communities for parents and kids to connect with the game.
“None of this would be possible without the support of NAB who have been a longstanding partner of Australia’s grassroots football program for more than two decades and are dedicated to helping the development of the next generation of talent,” said Mr McLachlan.
This year, AFL Legend, Auskick Parent and Fox Footy’s Nick Riewoldt is throwing his support behind the importance of community football and staying active, “NAB AFL Auskick is a fun way for kids and parents to get involved and get active. No matter your knowledge of AFL, skills or ability, it is a fun non-contact program for ages 5-12,” said Riewoldt.
While last year’s programs were shortened and even cancelled in some states due to COVID-19, NAB AFL Auskick will be better than ever, providing a fun, safe and engaging environment.
The 2021 season has also seen the return of the NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year competition, with nominations officially open.
The NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year competition calls for registered Auskickers to enter for the chance to become one of 22 weekly nominees which will be announced during the Seven Network’s Friday night match broadcast.
To enter the competition, parents and guardians of 2021 registered NAB AFL Auskick participants should visit nab.com.au/auskick.
Registrations to play NAB AFL Auskick are open via play.afl/auskick.
