In 2016, there were over 13,000 girls and women participating in AFL in the NT and this number continues to grow.
There are opportunities for girls of all ages and ability to play, watch or get involved with the game.
NAB AFL Auskick
The NAB AFL Auskick program is the AFL’s official introductory program for both boys and girls.
With no tackling, modified rules and an inclusive atmosphere, Auskick is fun, safe and a terrific way to get young girls involved in the sport.
To participate in the AFL Auskick program, girls must turn five in the calendar year that they register.

School clinics, competitions and Gala days
AFLNT coaches regularly visit schools to teach and develop AFL with the students.

In Darwin’s NTFL competition girls can play in the mixed U12 competition and then there are female-only leagues for U15, U18 and Women’s NTFL Premier League
The CAWFL in Alice Springs has five women’s teams competing.
Umpiring is a great way to be involved in the game. It provides an opportunity to get up close to the action while teaching outstanding life skills such as leadership, assertiveness and decision making.
