AFLNT's Andy Hood Taking Coaching to the Next Level

AFL Central Australia General Manager Andy Hood has been selected as the assistant coach the National Indigenous Women's under 18 side, the Woomeras.

Hood who has been based with ALF Northern Territory in Alice Springs for five years has been involved with women's football at many levels.

From coaching local women's football in the Central Australia Women's League, to coaching the Northern Territory (NT) Under 18 Kickstart Girls team to two consecutive national titles in 2014, Hood is widely respected as an expert in Australian Rules, particularly in the female space.

The Woomeras, who will play in the Youth Girls Championships next week against other Australian States and Territories also features two Territorian girls Kiara White (Central Australia), and Taylor Thorne (Darwin).

Thursday morning will see the Woomeras take on the Thunder Devils, a combined NT and Tasmanian team, with Hood looking forward to the challenge of taking on some familiar faces, and some of the NT’s best junior girls.

Hood then travels in Melbourne, where he is working as the assistant coach of the Melbourne Football Club Women’s team.
