AFL HEADS TO THE RED CENTRE

AFLNT is pleased to announce the Northern Territory Minister for Sport and Recreation, The Hon. Nathan Barrett MLA, will be hosting a free barbecue lunch for all football fans at TIO Traegar Park this Friday 27 May following an AFL Super Clinic in the Red Centre.

Tuesday 24 April 2016
AFLNT will host the AFL Super Clinic that will see more than 200 local children and Melbourne Football Club players in attendance.
Mr Barrett said it was an exciting time for football fans in Alice Springs with the AFL match a highlight of the year for many Centralians.
“Territorians simply love their footy - it’s part of our DNA. There is a great buzz around Alice Springs this week in the lead up to the AFL match between Melbourne and Port Adelaide on Saturday,” Mr Barrett said.
“As part of the build-up, I encourage everyone in the community to come along to the AFL Super Clinic and barbecue lunch at TIO Traegar Park this Friday.
“This is about so much more than one game of footy.
“We are committed to fostering relationships with national and international sporting bodies that will create clear pathways to top flight sport for our juniors and having the Demons in Alice Springs for an AFL Premiership points’ game has many positive impacts on the community as a whole.
“The NT Government is proud to be hosting a barbecue that brings the community together through football and we encourage everyone to come along.
“Melbourne Demons’ players will be in attendance signing autographs, answering questions, and taking photos with football fans.”
Melbourne will face Port Adelaide at TIO Traegar Park this Saturday 28 May at 1.40pm local time.
Round 10 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season has been renamed Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round in honour of Sir Doug Nicholls to acknowledge the enormous contribution he made to Australian Football and to the wider Australian community through reconciliation and public service.
