Northern Territory U16s squad to face NSW/ACT in 2016 NAB AFL National Championships

The NT Thunder U16 State Academy has announced the squad to play NSW/ACT in its first match of the 2016 NAB AFL U16 National Championships on Saturday 11th June at Northline Oval Palmerston.
After defeating the North West Academy in two games played at TIO Stadium last week, State Academy Development coach Andrew Hodges said Thunder’s focus quickly shifts to the first match of the Championships.
“From the two games we played last week, we have been able to select a squad of 30 to go on and represent the NT Thunder at the NAB AFL U16 National Championships,” Hodges said.
“It was good to play at home against quality opposition in the North West Academy, a side which includes players from the Kimberley and Pilbara regions.
“We have selected four players from the North West Academy, that comes into our talent zone at under 16 level, to join our NT Thunder team for the duration of the Championships.”
Hodges said after months of training and a few practice matches, the U16s have gained match fitness and are raring to go.
“Playing against quality sides in Scotch College and the North West Academy was a great warm up for our boys leading in to the Nationals and we are pleased with how they have conducted themselves on and off the field,” Hodges said.
